Facial Cupping: A Gentle Addition to Your Facial Treatment

Facial cupping has become increasingly popular as people explore different ways to care for their skin while enjoying a relaxing, hands-on facial experience.

Using small, soft silicone cups specifically designed for the face, facial cupping creates gentle suction as the cups are carefully moved across the skin.

At Solely You Reflexology in Wellington, Telford, I incorporate facial cupping into my Lotus Facial Rejuvenation treatment, where it works beautifully alongside Gua Sha and carefully selected skincare products.

What Is Facial Cupping?

Facial cupping is inspired by traditional cupping practices, but it is very different from the stronger body cupping you may have seen.

Rather than leaving cups stationary on the skin for extended periods, facial cups are generally used with gentle suction and flowing movements across the face.

The experience should feel comfortable and relaxing rather than intense.

I use specialist facial cups alongside an appropriate skincare product to allow them to glide smoothly over the skin.

What Does Facial Cupping Feel Like?

If you've never experienced facial cupping before, you might imagine it feels quite strong — but facial cupping is surprisingly gentle.

The soft cups create a light lifting sensation as they're moved across the skin. Combined with flowing movements across the face, it can be an incredibly soothing part of a facial treatment.

Pressure and technique can also be adapted to your comfort.

Why Include Facial Cupping in a Facial Treatment?

One of the things I particularly like about facial cupping is the different sensory experience it brings to a treatment.

The gentle suction and movement provide a contrast to hands-on facial techniques and Gua Sha, allowing me to incorporate different textures and sensations throughout your facial.

It can also leave the skin looking temporarily refreshed and feeling cared for, while the facial movements provide a lovely opportunity to release some of the everyday tension we can hold around the face and jaw.

Facial Cupping and Gua Sha

Facial cupping works particularly well alongside Gua Sha because the two techniques feel quite different.

Gua Sha uses smooth tools and flowing movements across the skin, while facial cupping introduces gentle suction.

Bringing the two together creates a varied facial ritual with changes in pressure, movement and sensation throughout the treatment.

Facial Cupping at Solely You Reflexology

Rather than offering facial cupping as an isolated treatment, I incorporate it into my bespoke Lotus Facial Rejuvenation experience.

Lotus Facial Rejuvenation brings together my training in Gua Sha Stone Mastery and Facial Cupping with carefully chosen ethical skincare products, soothing hot towels and a warm, comfortable treatment environment.

The result is a facial treatment that's as much about giving you time to relax and switch off as it is about caring for your face and skin.

With different treatment lengths available, you can choose anything from a shorter facial pick-me-up to a longer, more indulgent facial ritual.

A Different Approach to Facial Care

For me, facial treatments don't need to be about chasing dramatic transformations or trying to turn back the clock.

Sometimes it's simply about taking care of your skin, releasing some of the tension you carry in your face and giving yourself permission to stop for a while.

Facial cupping adds another beautiful technique to that experience — gentle, unusual and wonderfully relaxing.

If you'd like to experience Facial Cupping and Gua Sha for yourself, you can discover them as part of Lotus Facial Rejuvenation at Solely You Reflexology in Wellington, Telford.

Happy Health!
